TEVA MOUNTAIN GAMES
Costa Del Mar
2X-STREAM FLY TOURNAMENT
6-7 JUNE 2009
By: Dzifa and Adam TC Team USA

Dzifa and Adam represented Team Caddis this year at the Teva Mountain Games held in Vail, Colorado, the tournament consist of distant casting and accuracy, as well as the finals in fly fishing at an undisclosed location of the river on the final day for the top eight competitors, only cast of 50ft or longer are counted, these series or events are meant to eliminate casters as they put their skills to the test against some of the best from all over.
The top 20 that make it during the qualifier moved into the Semi-Final rounds as 20 of them put their skills back to work to eliminate each other to make it to the top 8, who then goes into the final round on the last day of the event, which consist of fishing and earning points for the fish he or she lands, these top 8 only gets two choices of flies he or she wish to use during the 3 to 4 hours on the water, any patterns any sized as long as they are barbless, and it is a catch and release tournament.

Some of the best compete to earn a spot in the top 8 as these are the top that goes into the finals, prizes are reward for them as well, with the overall winner taking home $1,000.00 cash and an Orvis rod and reel, as well as the big fish award for the biggest fish.
It’s an event design to bring competition into the fly fishing arena, as well as these type of tournaments make awareness into conservation and educate those that may not really understand that fly fishing is just as important as any other sports out there, we might not be known to ESPN like the Bass tournaments or Walleye, but we are slowly making a big splash out in the fly fishing tournament circuit as we strive to push further into conservation and education of our passions, Team Caddis will always try to be the front runner of these events, and as we continue to expand you can likely see more of our Pro Teams out in the tournament circuit competing to be in the top, or sponsoring more of these events.
SWITZERLAND ABANDON
“CATCH AND RELEASE”
By: TC Field Report

A few if not a lot of anglers worldwide, wouldn’t take it into consideration of what goes on in other parts of the world or what that government does or doesn’t do, but with Team Caddis, we try to extend a helping hand for a lot of our counterparts worldwide as we try to not intervene in other governments politics it is hard to try not too when it comes down to our interest, but a law has been pass in Switzerland on the catch and release program that has been in structure in that country for a long time, so what happens now?
Well if we don’t get into a reality of that it is happening in a civilized country full of many cultures and diversity, we are just being ignorant in our ways of not realizing the prospect of it spreading out, into neighboring borders, no I’m not saying that it could happen anytime soon in our lifetime or in the near future, but what I’m stressing out is the idea of it happening, you and I have wonder already, for those that have realized this topic somewhere else, but what and why didn’t any fishing union stop this, not much we can say, if you like to get in on the discussion of the topic go into our
forums and make your voice heard.
Ultimate European fly fishing shop
By: TC Field Report

On my way back from Denmark with one of the director, we stop at Sport Fischer Zentrum, a German tackle shop in the town of Neumunster located in northern Germany not far from Hamburg, our intention was to check our the nice small lake they had a few yards away from the shop as well as the shop itself, there I was met by one of the owner, a very polite gentlemen in his twenties.
Bjorn Viol and I had a great discussion about fly fishing and venture on about fishing and our common background, he and his colleagues also run a fly fishing course there as well as manage the lake itself, the shop is a decent size shop with a corner for those coffee drinker, they are well in their English language and very helpful in guiding you in the right path on locations and places to go in the area, I had the opportunity to fish the lake itself, and with his assurance on how well they manage the lake he guarantee that the trout in there are 2 kilo or more in weights, we venture on about products and gears, I showed him one of the prototype Black Forest Series Fly Rod to check out and was willing to pursue a sustaining partnership with him and Team Caddis.

Just as with any partners we discuss about future potential for both our organization as we progress, as a shop owner Bjorn was eager to see how well we can sell the Black Forest Series as this is another American made product to hit the European market, it’s debut will be a success as I can guarantee that through hard work and dedication of our Pro-Team members worldwide.
Back to the topic of fishing the lake, I manage to finally head down to check out the lake itself, as with most European waterways, there are certain places you can and cannot fish and the places that you can fish on the lakes are mark with stakes and the fishermen is only allow to be in between the two stakes, also there is a location where you can also wade into the lake, this lake itself is about 50 acre size, give or take a few, I found the lake to be clean and clear just like most of the Alpine lakes you see or picture in the Northwest region of the U.S, the species of fish are Trouts, Rainbow, Brown and Sea trout, as well as numerous feeder fish in there, Rot Auge and Rot Feder, this place is pristine for fly fishermen on still water, I manage to walk around the lake and see if I can spot any fish and came to a thick brush corner where I spotted a nice size rainbow, where the stakes were standing I had a fifteen to twenty inch window to cast but as the fish moved closer I manage to present the streamer just over him and quickly strip in my line, to my amazement the fish went after it so quick that I didn’t even had time to set the hook, he spit our the streamer so quick that I just stood there stunned and amazed by the presence of just a magnificent fish, well the challenge is on and the fish are there, all the trout that I saw were well over 2 kilos and the lake itself seem to be very well manage.
Due to being in a hurry to get back home I settle for a loss on this day as the fish outscored me 2 to 0, but I will be back to challenge these European trouts again, I went back up to the shop to say thank you to Bjorn and as well as continue our ventures and partnership, he and I continue to talk via email and phone calls, I will be back up there shortly to not just to talk about business but up my score on those trout. If you like more information on his shop, Fly Fishing course or even fish at the lake you can contact Bjorn or his colleagues at Sport Fischer Zentrum.
